Cricket and Blogging: Drawing a Parallel

I have come to realize that both Cricket and blogging are my favorite pastimes, an absolute passion. There is so much that one can write about as far as Cricket is concerned. It is this passion that has led me to this blog. I will try to draw a parallel between Cricket and Blogging. Hope that the Cricket Loving Bloggers will enjoy this Limited match of words between the ball and the keyboard.

Cricket is an intense battle between Bat, Ball and the Mind. Blogging is that constant chatter between, Words, Keyboard and the Mind.

Cricket is a game that is played between twenty two players, watched by thousands of spectators. Blogging is game played between 26 alphabets, watched by millions of online audiences.

A Batsman scores runs and the same gets posted on the scoreboard. A Blogger shares a Post which gets shared on social media.

A Spinner makes a Batsman dance to the tune of his deliveries. A Blogger spins a Tale to enthrall his audience

A Batsman plays a poor shot and he gets sledged. A Blogger messes up with words and he gets trolled.

There is self satisfaction, each time a bowler gets a wicket. There is Happiness, each time someone appreciates a blog.

A batsman knows which ball to leave and which ball to hit. A Blogger knows which words to use and which ones to leave out.

A Wicketkeeper dives, stumps, catches the ball in right positions. A Blogger writes, edits, catches the mood of the audience, accordingly blogs.

Each time a batsman reaches a fifty or a Hundred, he raises his bat. Each Time a blogger gets to a landmark number of impressions, he takes a bow.

A Batsman hits a four or a six, he gets applauded, A Blogger comes up with a wonderful blog post, the post is liked, retweeted or shared.

A Batsman or a Bowler has to use his hands to bowl, field or bat. A Blogger has to use his hands to write a Blog.

Beyond everything there is passion, tonnes of hard work, sincerity and the ability to remain patient in both Cricket and Blogging that can take you right to the top. There has to be persistence. You need to be creative, hands on and the courage to try new styles of writing, just as a bowler might want to add new variations to his bowling. Keep experimenting for you never know what weill succeed. Playing Cricket can land you a lot of fame and money, so can blogging. Keep Playing, Keep Blogging, you never know when or how you will get recognized, you have to dream big. I blog for the love of it. I see a young cricketer execute a cover drive to a perfection, he must derive satisfaction from the shot. I take a lot of inspiration from cricket-the patience that a bowler exhibits when he is not among the wickets, a batsman who keeps trying and trying despite going through a rough patch. Intention to encourage bloggers to write has drawn me so far this blog. Write for the love of it and not for anything else. Bat and Bowl for the love of the game and for nothing else.
