I wish I could tell you that if you were to follow a certain formula it would lead to success 100%. Because there is no single path to success. It has to be a combination of factors that will lead you to your goal. This blog is to see if I could use my experience to set you on the path to success.
Confidence is always the key to success. you have approach your chosen path with a rock like confidence. With confidence comes humility to reach your goal, and with Humility comes the need to work as a team. There has hardly been an instance where a person has done it all by himself. Yes Confidence plays a huge part but it comes with lots of training, experience and skills to show. Once you are skilled enough in the chosen path, its only a matter of time before success embraces you.
Never Give Up. Success may or may not happen at the very first instance. It might elude you multiple times before success gives you the nod of approval. In between failures are nothing but stepping stones to success. you have to treat each failure as a Learning Step. Each Failure that you encounter may dampen your spirit, ridicule you, make you to want to surrender, but to fall down is one thing, getting up and continue running is the stuff that winners are made up of.
In the modern day corporate world there is no competition between the Hare and the Tortoise. The Hare is smart, tech savy, and hard working. He does not stop to rest for a moment. It is thus the hare that wins each time and the slow and steady are left lagging far behind. You have to upgrade yourselves constantly, up those skills, train yourself for stiffer times. You have to be fast, smart, hardworking and seen to be creative all the time, else your seat belongs to someone else and your cheese would have moved very fast. So the lesson is quite clear. To be successful you need to be smart and fast, multitasking at the same time.
Times are being seen as very tough for the Indian IT Industry. People are seen as losing their jobs in the thousands. On the other side people are also getting employed. So where lies the truth. As per my understanding,no organisation fires a person without having given that person adequate time and opportunity. So these are the people who are the fence sitters, not able to take up training, blind to see the writing on the wall, that if they fail to undergo transformation they will be morped in exchange for better skill that is available in the industry. How much ever you are lettered and celebrated there is no end to learning and training in modern times, Innovation with adoption of new skills is the key to success.
Constantly Seek Feedback of your performance. This is an absolute must. You have to stand in front of the mirror to get a review of what you look like. A Reflection is never false. It will show you as you are. There is nothing wrong in seeking out how you are doing in your professional life from your own peers, colleagues, and bosses. This will stand you in good stead. It will show you where you stand and give you adequate scope for self improvement and course correction. In a way it secures you and protects you from the axe falling on your head.
Change is inevitable both internally within the organization and externally outside the organization. You can never ever change Change but you can change yourself. This could well be tune with the organizational goals, strategy and thinking. I might have been selling automobiles all my life, but tomorrow if the situation so demands that I sell insurance products, so be it, I have to gear myself to a changing scenario in my life. If I say no to change then I will be left far behind others.
Chess pieces that move back and front, side, diagonally in all directions are the most effective and sought after. This I speak from my own experience. In ones professional experience it happens. There will be times when you have to compromise on your pay package, your position, the size of the organization, one or all of the above mentioned scenarios. In the game of chess there are times when the pieces have to be moved back, This is never really a compromise but a right step taken, in the larger interest, to win the game, to be successful. There should never be ego that comes in the way. You can always take a step back to rebuild your career. Gold never loses its lustre, wherever it is, it will always be recognized.
Last but not the least, a little philosophical but it helps all the while. Do good to others and it will always come back to you in some form or the other. Help people along the way. Most importantly never ever compromise on two things which I have never done in my life. These two pearls are honesty and integrity. So long as these tho strong principles are there with you, nothing can touch you, people will always recall you as a man or woman of principles and chances are that they will never fail to recommend you. Let me leave you with with one last pearl. Grow your team, be with your team in fair weather and foul, watch how they flower and be happiest in their happiness. Once they are happy and grow in their professional lives, they will automatically push you up, which also is the shortest route to Success.
