Dear Media Please dont blame the Indian Cricket Team

Dear Media,

Please don't blame the Indian Cricket Team. They have lost just one match. They went out of India after a gruelling IPL season. It is very difficult to come out blazing all guns after a season In India which can be physically very demanding. From the hot summer in India they went to the cooler chimes in England. Requires time to adapt mentally and physically to the alien conditions.

Yet they won the warm up matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand, thereafter beating arch rivals Pakistan in a group match. Three matches won and only one lost against Sri Lanka. Let us remember to applaud the quality of cricket that Sri Lanka dished out yesterday. I was particularly offended by the tweet of Sumant Raman:  https://twitter.com/sumanthraman/status/872866463656271872
The tweet needs to be condemned and taken off. I grew up liking the game and more often than not have ended up seeing the Indian Cricket Team lose to all and sundry. Even Teams like Zimbabwe would beat us and we would move on. The current Indian Team has given us more victories than losses. Let us savour the victories and back the team even when they are losing.

Dear Media, Stop creating a rift between the captain and coach. Even if there is one and there is substantial truth to it, is it not the responsibility of the media to weigh in the options, the pros and the cons of publishing such a story. The general public goes by what you write or broadcast. Don't write just for the sake of TRP's , hardly matters. Can you not keep the lid on the story till the championship is over and allow the cricketing authorities to take care of the issue.

Dear Media, Do not create an issue out of nothing. Do not create a rift between the players when none really exists. Allow the captain and the players to operate in a manner that they deem fit. Matters relating to selection are best left to the Captain. There are a lot of factors that need to be considered while selecting the best playing level.  The team is already under immense pressure to perform and rise to the expectations of a billion people each time they hit the ground. Least that Media can do is be supportive of them while reporting each time.

Dear Media, Remember that we lost to a quality Sri Lanka side yesterday. We had a bad day at office. There were the odd balls that dropped short of our fielders. We gave a superlative batting performance while the bowlers were clearly off colour. Very much acceptable. Please remind yourselves that it is the same team that gave a superlative performance in the last three games. Constructive Criticism Yes, Rank Abusive No. Sensationalising No. News Reporting just to boost the TRP, a clear No.

I am fully supportive of the Current Indian Team and a die hard fan of each player who represents us. We have to back them up in victories and cheer them harder when they seem to lag behind. Imagine a scenario where the Media and the Fans join hands to be supportive of the efforts of the Indian Cricket Team, it would go a long way in boosting the morale of the team. Go for it Team India for the match on Sunday against the Proteas. Give off your very best. If you win of course we will be happy, if you end up losing, better luck next time. Backing you up each time you step out on to the field, with you every second, bleed blue.....
